Publications and recordings

Throughout his career Steve has written articles and reviews for a number of journals and publications. He co-wrote with Colin Harrison a chapter in Understanding Reading Development (2004). He was an Associate Coordinator for Chalkface, putting together their best selling pack, Detention Tasks to Improve Behaviour. He has written blogs for York Notes, was Head of English for schoolsnet.com and has advised Longman on a range of publications. He has also worked with young writers to publish their work, as shown below.

Although this is now out-of-print, Steve is pleased to think that he and co-author, Ben Wilkinson, were ahead of the curve a little in their enthusiasm for Sherlock

Different Cultures

Steve was pleased to write the notes for this excellent collection of short stories which was adopted as part of the national curriculum in South Africa. Still available here

Missing Pieces

Developing from a project on biography, involving Kate Clanchy, this is a collection of pieces written by Lincolnshire school pupils about people who have come to live in the county from other countries.

Personal Best

Steve worked with noted author and fellow Leeds United fan, Tom Palmer, to produce this collection of short stories based in Guernsey and Alderney. All the stories have a clear focus on growth mindset.
