In the recent Teacher Wellbeing Survey conducted by the NASUWT, 86% of teachers surveyed said that their job had had a negative impact on their mental health during the last year. The survey also found that:
73% of teachers said that their workplaces didn't offer any support
64% said their schools lack measures to manage stress and burnout
63% said there weren't any school-based counsellors they could talk to.
It is against this backdrop that I am launching the first cohort of the Functionally Fluent School Leadership programme. Here are some of the key elements of this innovative project to support school senior and middle leaders.
The programme will be based on Susannah Temple's award-winning Functional Fluency model, which you can read more about here.
Each cohort of the programme will be limited to 8 participants to ensure that everyone has a opportunity to participate fully.
The programme includes two individual 90-120 minute online coaching sessions with me, based on responses to the TIFF© (Temple Index of Functional Fluency) survey .
In the first coaching session in January 2025 the delegate and I will co-create a personalised action plan to help them thrive.
After the initial individual coaching sessions, the full cohort will meet together monthly to explore aspects of the Functional Fluency model, discuss progress with their individual action plans and look ahead to the coming month.
After completing a second TIFF, the second coaching session in June 2025 will focus on identifying progress made in the last six months and creating an action plan to ensure the delegate is well prepared for the coming academic year.
The final group session in July 2025 will focus on sharing and celebrating success.
The programme aims to raise morale, develop emotional literacy and empower behavioural change. It has been designed to provide opportunities to talk issues through, build support networks and to help minimise the risk of stress and burnout.
I have been a licensed TIFF© provider since 2011, and have completed well over 250 such feedback sessions with teachers, leaders, social workers, administrators, CEOs etc. I am the UK Connector for Functional Fluency International.
If you think this programme could be useful to you or to colleagues please book a free ticket for the zoom meeting I am running on 10 December when you will be able to ask any questions. Or, if you are already convinced, you can sign up now here. The cost of the whole programme is just £600 per delegate.
